Typical Projects

Planning – Mundall Engineering has assisted King County Water District #83 in preparation of their Comprehensive System Plan, in Lake Forest Park, WA, a Seattle Suburb. This project is presently at draft stage.

Infrastructure Development- designed and modeled all supply & distribution infrastructure including onsite and offsite pumping and storage to a 580 unit development in West Kelowna, B.C.

G.I.S. Development– King County Water District #83 – Utility mapping system created in collaboration with in-house staff using AutocadMap environment.

Industrial Water Treatment - Mundall Engineering received special complements for a treatability study which examined the viability of several emerging technologies to treat 11,000 gpm of feed water at Macmillan Blodel pulp & paper, Powell River, B.C.

Industrial Site Servicing - onsite and offsite servicing for the Project Office Complex, Vancouver International Airport, including lift station, 1400 ft of forcemain and other utilities.

First Nation Water Infrastructure - managed all phases of a comprehensive infrastructure assessment and upgrade program for the community of Bella Bella, B.C. which included 2.5 miles of water mains, pump stations & peaking reservoirs.

Submarine Outfalls - Design, Permitting, Procurement, and Construction Management for two deep water outfalls of over 4000 ft length in the Inside Passage of British Columbia.

Drainage Studies & Design - design of drainage system for a 2 sq-mile drainage area of frequently inundated “lowlands” in Surrey, B.C. HEC ll was used to profile flood elevations throughout for existing and design scenarios.

Trunk Sewers - design for of a trunk sewer to service a 5 sq-mile area in West Kelowna, B.C. Included detailed design, construction inspection and startup for 3 miles of trunk sewer including a high head (215 ft lift) solids pumping station and 1 mile of twin gravity forcemain.

Funding Assistance - first time success in achieving project funding from several highly competetive governmental sources in B.C. and WA including the P.W.T.F.

Wastewater Treatment & Storage - design for advanced waste treatment system for proposed “mega” farm farrow to finish operation on Sumas Prairie. This system was designed to meet new stringent controls for nitrogen and phosphorus removal.

Interceptor Sewers - preliminary and detailed design for over 6600 ft of 24" and 30" sanitary sewer and control structures for Greater Vancouver Regional District interceptor system near Big Bend. System was designed for peak period surcharge. Project value $2.3M

Scada / Telemetry - Design, Build and Maintain an advanced internet based scada telemetry system for a water treatment plant and multi-sourced water intank filtration system. Sensors included Water Turbididty, Pressure, Tempature, Flow, Clorination PPM. Wireless links were uitilized to send the telemetry data from the remote stations. A central server was deployed that provided a web based HMI for operators to view and control the status of each sitee. Project Value $.45M

Our Business

Mundall Engineering offers comprehensive and cost effective solutions to ordinary and not so ordinary water, drainage and wastewater projects both in the State of Washington as well as in British Columbia. Principal owner is Mr. Dan Mundall, MSCE, P.E, P.Eng. who is assisted on a casual basis by other associates. Many of our clients at present are well known engineering firms who rely on us for efficient and dedicated expertise for their more difficult water, drainage, or wastewater engineering related needs. In addition we have carried out infrastructure assessments, feasibility studies and design work on behalf of municipal and regional governments needing to determine the capability and requirements for water, sewer, drainage and other civil engineering works.

Our Commitment...

Clients appreciate our commitment to ‘look at the big picture’ on their behalf. That means taking care to examine the givens, and confirm the assumptions that come with a problem. To help assure this we invest in the latest, most advanced analysis, design and production tools available to assure efficient and consistent engineering production. We could list off our expensive software etc. but our most important resource is the people we work with - clients, associates, government, operators, contractors, & suppliers. Because of this priority we enjoy close & rewarding relationships with clients and others. After people our next most important resource is time... Small firms don’t delegate - they do! Our day off is after the work is done. When the hours in a day run out - we will make more! - to assure that your important milestones are met.

Philosophy and Plan

Mundall Engineering desires provide you with value oriented solutions to your engineering needs. We consider ourselves leaders in a growing trend toward small, tightly integrated engineering/consulting enterprises.

Years of experience with traditional consulting enterprises has demonstrated the value of having a single team involved in a project as opposed to a pyramid of delegation. Your contact with Mundall Engineering will be either Dan Mundall, Principal, or an immediate associate. There is no substitute for an on-site visit, or a planned face to face meeting. These are essential, and help to establish trust. But when lightning speed is important, we make ourselves accessible to your needs through telephone, cellular, FAX, and internet communication.

Our objective is to continue to develop our expertise in specialized water related projects. We have good working relationships with a number of general civil engineering firms, partly because we are not in competition with these firms; our specialization is strictly in water related projects.
